Haymarket is set to glow as Sydney Lunar Streets returns with a bold, immersive street festival celebrating the Year of the Horse. Stretching from Chinatown to Thaitown, this one-night-only event transforms the precinct into a buzzing celebration of culture, creativity and community.
From 5pm to 10pm, the streets will pulse with energy as lion dances, DJs, street food and live performances take over the laneways. Expect a dynamic mix of traditional Lunar New Year rituals and contemporary entertainment, designed to bring the city together in one of Sydney’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
A highlight of the evening is the striking fire horse installation rising over Dixon Street — a powerful symbol of strength, momentum and good fortune. Hay Street will be lined with glowing lunar lanterns, creating a festival atmosphere perfect for wandering, eating and soaking it all in.
Music lovers can catch DJs spinning on Dixon Street, while culture seekers can explore mahjong tables, market stalls and performance spaces dotted throughout the area. The event also proudly partners with The Kids’ Cancer Project, giving festivalgoers the chance to support a meaningful cause while celebrating.
