Bondi Beach is famous around the world, but behind its golden sands, rolling surf and internationally recognised lifeguards lies a fascinating history filled with extraordinary rescues, colourful personalities and surprising stories. From 28 October to 1 November 2026, Bondi Pavilion will host Bondi Lifeguards: Stories from the Vault, a free exhibition offering a rare glimpse into the people, events and traditions that helped shape Australia’s most famous beach. Presented by Waverley Council, the exhibition draws on the Council’s Local History collection to bring more than a century of professional lifeguarding to life.
